A Feldenkrais Method class
Breathe Again
Mondays 7-8 PM for 8 weeks
After the inversions and red air days, our lungs are hurting. Shallower breath leads to anxiety and lower energy. Get your full energy back, and feel more energized. Start off your Spring with more focus, more resilience, better health, and more mental clarity. Feel smarter, more athletic, calmer, and sleep better.
This is a Feldenkrais Method class. It will be very gentle, fun and effective. If you can make it into the building to class, you are strong enough to benefit. Bring a large towel or small blanket. Dress in soft, warm clothes- we will not be working outso you can be comfortable resting quietly or moving.
Dan Schmidt is a Feldenkrais practitioner. He has been teaching and doing hands on work with people for over 20 years. Healthy breathing is a passion for him.
You can see video of him teaching by clicking on the link below http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s35au-pURHk
You can learn more about his approach by visiting http://somadan.com/
Class is $150 prepaid for 8 weeks or $25 drop in (if space permits)

Read More…We are excited to introduce to you the CoreAlign®, a functional movement apparatus to improve balance, gait, stability, and core control. The CoreAlign® is a newer exercise discipline, and Pinnacle is the only studio in Utah that has it. We will be offering 6-week introductory series with Master CoreAlign Trainer, Tessa Hale beginning Jan 6th. We will offer both a Restorative CoreAlign Introductory Series for individuals who seek to improve balance and gait efficiency, and a CoreAlign Introductory Series for individuals seeking to improve performance and neuromuscular control during sport and recreation.
Tessa Hale became a CoreAlign Faculty member this summer and is excited to start CoreAlign classes in January. So, to capture your interest and give you a taste of this new form of exercise, we are offering the CoreAlign Preview! The preview classes will be held Wednesday evenings at 5:15pm and Saturday mornings at 11:am through the month of December. The one-hour class will begin with the basics of safety, set-up, injury prevention, and self-monitoring. Then we will experience a variety of the basic exercises. We will add in dynamic movements that allow for increased heart rate and simulation of functional movements like walking, running, skiing, etc.
A little over three years ago Bre Dumke’s life was saved by her best friend Julie. Bre fell some 70 feet while hiking in Colorado’s Sangre de Cristos range. The road to recovery led Bre to her Pilates certification and a perspective of hope that she shares with her clients at Pinnacle. When asked, Bre will say that she runs everyday because she can. A glimpse at an event that changed her life forever.

Our very own Tessa Hale, DPT talked to Halli from KSL’s Studio 5 last week about the benefits of Pilates. Way to go Tessa! You were great!
Also, thank you to everybody who agreed to be filmed in class that day. We appreciate it.
Read More…A study recently published in the New England Journal of Medicine and presented this week by its author to a conference of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons found that physical therapy can be as effective in treating a torn meniscus (a cartilage disc in the knee) as arthroscopic surgery when comparing results after a 6-month period. It should go without saying that PT is considerably less expensive than surgery, as well. If the medical journal is a little dense for you, here’s a summary from the AP by way of the Salt Lake Tribune.
The AP article quotes Rachelle Buchbinder, an expert on preventative medicine at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, as saying she feels that the study should prompt a change in practice for physicians. She is further quoted as saying that PT should be the first approach for an injury to the meniscus, with invasive surgery reserved for the minority of patients who do not respond to therapy.
This study backs up the experience of the clinicians at Pinnacle, but it’s always nice to have the data on your side.
